Driver Dies in Tulare Car Crash on Highway 99

 
TULARE, CA (October 15, 2020) — A San Diego man died in a two-car crash on Highway 99 near East Prosperity Avenue Tuesday.
 
According to news reports, the incident ensued around 10:00 p.m.
 
California Highway Patrol officers believe a 53-year-old driver tried merging onto Highway 99 at an unknown speed when his Mercedes crossed directly into the path of an oncoming Volvo.
 
Subsequently, the front of the Volvo slammed into the Mercedes, pushing the vehicle into a metal guard rail before it came to a stop in the center median.
 
Not long after, paramedics arrived at the scene and brought the Mercedes driver to an area hospital where he died, despite having received treatment and care.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Volvo avoided injury and stayed at the scene for a police investigation.
 
However, it’s still uncertain at this point if alcohol and drugs played a role in the accident, but an investigation continues.
