2 Hurt, 1 Arrested in Seattle DUI Accident on 5 Freeway
SEATTLE, WA (October 16, 2020) — Two people were injured following Wednesday’s chain-reaction DUI accident on 5 Freeway near Airport Way South.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a southbound driver in a van hit the brakes around 6:00 p.m. for unknown reasons. Subsequently, a driver in an Infiniti swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle yet instead, struck a Dodge Charger.
Due to the impact, the Dodge Charger rolled off the 5 Freeway and landed on its roof on Airport Way South.
As a result of the accident, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man riding in the Charger sustained multiple injuries and received care at Harborview Medical Center shortly after.
At this time, state troopers have yet to determine the ultimate cause of the crash; however, police arrested one person on DUI charges.
