Man in Motorized Wheelchair Struck and Killed on South Nellis Boulevard in Clark County
CLARK COUNTY, NV (October 13, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man in a motorized wheelchair died in an accident on South Nellis Boulevard on early Tuesday morning.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Flamingo Road at approximately 4:30 AM.
Based on a report, the man in his wheelchair attempted to cross from the east sidewalk to the west sidewalk of Nellis. Subsequently, he entered into the path of a 1992 Nissan pickup truck that was traveling south on the road, causing a collision. The impact from the crash ejected him from his chair and into the path of the Toyota, which ran over him before coming to a stop.
Emergency crews immediately transported the victim to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Unfortunately, he died of his injuries. His identity was not immediately available.
Both drivers stayed at the scene of the collision. Officials said they did not show any signs of impairment. However, officials continue to investigate the case.
