Officer Hit, Kills Bicyclist Prior to Two-Vehicle Crash That Injures Officers and Driver
ANDERSON, CA (October 13, 2020) — A bicyclist died Sunday night after being struck by a patrol vehicle just minutes before a two-vehicle crash on Highway 273 near Thomas Road.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. just south of Thomas Road.
Reports say a man riding a bike in the fast lane sustained fatal injuries at the scene when an oncoming Anderson police car struck him.
Subsequently, another Anderson Police Sergeant arrived to assist and redirect northbound traffic; however, an oncoming sedan traveling north struck the Anderson police car, causing major injuries to one of the officers.
As a result, the sedan driver also sustained major injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the ICU.
Fortunately, the other officer leaped out of the way and suffered only moderate injuries.
