George Cajias Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 580 Freeway [Castro Valley, CA]
Multiple Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on 580 Freeway near Eden Canyon Road in Castro Valley
CASTRO VALLEY, CA (October 18, 2020) – Police identified George Cajias as the victim who died in a multi-vehicle crash on westbound 580 Freeway on Thursday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Eden Canyon Road at about 5:50 PM.
Based on a report, multiple vehicles collided in the lanes. However, the authorities did not yet release the details that led to the fatal pile-up.
As a result, the Alameda County coroner’s bureau confirmed that the 67-year-old Richmond man died of his injuries from the crash.
The crews closed two lanes of the highway for about 90 minutes while a clearing operation took place in the area.
Police did not release the factor that caused the crash. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
