Driver Sought after Speeding Car Crash on 10 Freeway [West Covina, CA]
Speeding Car Crashes Through Home in Hit-and-Run on 10 Freeway near Workman Avenue in West Covina
WEST COVINA, CA (October 9, 2020) – Police officers are now looking for a driver after a speeding car crashed through a home on westbound 10 Freeway on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Workman Avenue just after 9:20 PM.
Based on a report, officers initially chased the suspect’s Tesla Model 3. However, they canceled the pursuit when the motorist continued to drive recklessly and exited on Azusa Avenue, going about 90 mph. A short time later, the Tesla slammed into the garage of a home. Subsequently, the driver fled the scene after the crash.
As a result, emergency crews found a female passenger in the Tesla with moderate injuries.
Crews tried to tow the Tesla away from the scene but they feared that the garage’s roof might collapse.
As of today, the CHP continues to investigate the pursuit while Covina police handle the crash. However, officials don’t have further details about the incident.
Authorities strictly remind motorists to not leave the scene after an accident. However, wait for the authorities to arrive. Always stay sober, manage your speed, and avoid reckless driving to avoid getting into an accident.
