78-Year-Old Woman Dies in Crash on 38th Street [Phoenix, AZ]
Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on 38th Street near University Drive in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (October 9, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 78-year-old woman died in a crash on 38th Street on Friday afternoon.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at University Drive around 12:45 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was driving a vehicle south on 38th street prior to the crash. Due to an unknown reason, she did not yield to a vehicle traveling east on University Drive. Subsequently, the two vehicles collided.
Emergency crews transported the elderly driver to a local hospital, where she died to her injuries. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification. In addition, the other driver remained at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.
Phoenix police do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision. However, they continue to investigate the case.
