Driver Dies in Head-On Collision in North Highlands
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (October 6, 2020)—A 56-year-old man perished Friday afternoon following a head-on accident on Roseville Road near Palm Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 56-year-old from Sacramento, operating a white Ford Econoline van, was determined to be heading southbound on Roseville Road around 12:30 p.m.
For unknown reasons, he veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Ford Escape.
Subsequently, the Econoline van overturned and entered a nearby parking lot, where it slammed into two unoccupied cars and a building.
Paramedics responded soon after and transported the Sacramento man to a nearby hospital where he died.
As for the 46-year-old driver of the Ford Escape, he suffered major injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, CHP officers confirmed.
Alcohol and drugs did not play as factors in the collision but an investigation into the primary cause remains in place.
We would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of the victim.
