DUI Driver Involved in Mattawa Car Accident on Highway 243
MATTAWA, WA (October 5, 2020) – Emergency crews airlifted a car driver to the hospital following a DUI car accident on Highway 243 on Monday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened just north of the Vernita Bridge around 8:30 AM.
Based on a report, the victim was the driver of a sedan that caused a crash with a semi-truck. As both vehicles were exiting the curve just before the bridge, the car collided with the truck head-on, striking its driver’s side.
As a result, crews airlifted the driver of the sedan to Kadlec Medical Center in the Tri-Cities. The victim’s condition was not yet available. In addition, and the semi driver was not hurt in the incident.
WSP said the sedan driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the time of the wreck. However, officials continue to investigate the collision.
