18-Year-Old Driver Killed in Car Crash on Espinosa Road [Salinas, CA]
Fog and Low Visibility Causes Car to Crash into Harvesting Machine in Salinas
SALINAS, CA (October 5, 2020) – Police confirmed that an 18-year-old driver died in a car crash on Espinosa Road on late Monday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Christensen Road at about 11:00 PM.
Based on a report, the victim was driving on Espinosa Road while in extremely foggy conditions. At the same time, a truck that was pulling a lettuce harvesting machine was crossing the road. Due to the low visibility, he crashed into it, causing the car to go under the harvester.
As a result, the 18-year-old Marina man died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity, pending kin notification.
Police don’t have additional details to share. However, they continue to investigate the case.
