Keshon Manning Killed in Police Chase Crash on Jefferson Avenue [Murrieta, CA]
Keshon Manning Dies in Police Pursuit Accident on Jefferson Avenue at Los Alamos Road
MURRIETA, CA (October 5, 2020) — One man died Thursday afternoon following a police pursuit collision on Jefferson Avenue at Los Alamos Road.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau, Keshon Manning died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
California Highway Patrol officers determined that the 25-year-old was a passenger in a BMW that police tried chasing down around 3:00 a.m. earlier that day.
Per reports, the incident stemmed from an attempted traffic stop. A Murrieta police officer tried pulling over the BMW at Jefferson Avenue and Murrieta Hot Springs for a violation of a vehicle code; however, the driver of the BMW sped northbound along Jefferson Avenue where it ran a red light at Los Alamos Road.
At the intersection, the BMW collided with a red Honda, which sent the BMW into southbound Jefferson Avenue traffic. After that, it slammed into a Murrieta Police Department vehicle that carried an officer, whom units contacted to respond to the chase.
Due to the impact, the patrol vehicle overturned, causing major non-life-threatening injuries to the officer.
According to reports, firefighters had to extricate the officer from the wreckage and airlift him to a hospital for treatment.
Manning and the BMW driver sustained major injuries, later resulting in Manning’s death.
Additionally, two people inside the Honda suffered minor to moderate injuries.
At this time, the factors that led to the accident have yet to be determined with further investigation.
We would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Keshon Manning.
