Woman Injured Following Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on South 56th Street at 5 Freeway [Tacoma, WA]
One Injured in Tacoma Pedestrian Accident on South 56th Street
TACOMA, WA (October 1, 2020) — A woman sustained serious injuries following Wednesday’s hit-and-run pedestrian accident on South 56th Street at the 5 Freeway on-ramp.
According to the Washington State Patrol, medics and state troopers responded to the scene around 6:20 a.m. There, they found a woman with significant injuries and transported her to St. Joseph Medical Center’s trauma unit.
A driver who had witnessed the crash informed authorities that the woman had been walking along the shoulder of the freeway when the hit-and-run driver struck her. Additionally, the witness reported that the driver initially stopped but had left before troopers arrived.
At this time, detectives are searching for a silver Nissan Altima that could be missing a right headlamp and a right-side view mirror.
