David Birt Killed in Highway 18 Pedestrian Accident [Apple Valley, CA]
David Birt Fatally Struck by Car on Highway 18 Near Mandan Road
APPLE VALLEY, CA (September 29, 2020) — A 33-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident Friday night along Highway 18 near Mandan Road.
Under unknown circumstances, a driver in a blue 2008 Chrysler Town and Country traveling eastbound on the highway struck the Apple Valley man in the eastbound lanes.
Shortly after, paramedics and deputies arrived at the scene yet only to pronounce the pedestrian — David A. Birt — dead at 9:32 p.m.
According to sheriff’s officials, the driver of the Chrysler, whom they described as a 50-year-old man, did not appear to be under the influence of any type of drugs or alcohol.
As a result of the accident, officials closed the eastbound lanes from Tao Road to Rimrock Road for nearly four hours to determine the events that took place here.
