Woman Killed in Solo-Car Accident on Paradise Valley Road Near Worthington Street [Spring Valley, CA]
Passenger in SUV Dies in Spring Valley Crash
SPRING VALLEY, CA (September 24, 2020) — A 52-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Paradise Valley Road near South Worthington Street.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow, the crash took place around 6:50 a.m.
Garrow reported that a 49-year-old man from Chula Vista, operating a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, allowed the SUV to travel over a north sidewalk and through a chain-link fence for unknown reasons.
The westbound Hyundai Santa Fe subsequently went down a dirt embankment and slammed into a tree stump, ejecting the woman who had been reportedly lying down in the back seat of the SUV.
Further details indicated that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
As a result, the woman suffered fatal injuries and the driver sustained minor injuries.
Per news reports, paramedics transported the driver to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment.
At this time, details remain unclear as to what drove the accident; however, intoxication has been ruled out as a possible factor.
