Maribel Lopez Crashes Into Car, Kills Driver at Burbank Street and Scaroni Avenue

 
SHAFTER, CA (September 22, 2020) — One person died in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning at Burbank Street and Scaroni Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, one of the involved drivers survived the two-car crash. Police later identified her as 30-year-old Maribel Pimentel Lopez.
 
Around 7:03 a.m., a driver in a gray Nissan Altima, traveling westbound on Burbank Street, had just made a complete stop at the intersection. However, as the Nissan pulled into the intersection with Scaroni Street, it crossed into the path of Lopez’s northbound white Chevrolet SUV.
 
As a result, both cars collided. Per reports, the driver of the Nissan, who authorities later learned did not wear a seatbelt, died at the scene.
 
Due to the accident, CHP officials closed the area to investigate.
