Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 24, 2020) — A man died Wednesday morning after being struck by a driver in a pedestrian accident on Sports Arena Boulevard near Ollie Street.
According to San Diego police officers, dispatchers responded to a call around 5:00 a.m. The report stated a driver struck a pedestrian in the Midway District area of San Diego.
Upon arriving, police found a male pedestrian, who appeared to be in his 30s, with severe injuries.
Soon after, paramedics transported the victim to UCSD Medical Center where he died, despite having received life-saving help.
As for the Toyota Prius driver, the 54-year-old man remained at the scene and cooperated with police investigators.
According to investigators, the driver was driving southbound in the No. 1 lane as the pedestrian tried crossing westbound, mid-block. It had been at this point when the accident occurred.
