Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on 78th Avenue East [Puyallup, WA]
Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 78th Avenue East near 189th Street in Puyallup
PUYALLUP, WA (September 18, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a pedestrian accident in the 19000 block of 78th Avenue East on Friday night.
According to the Washington Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the intersection of 189th Street just after 9:30 PM.
Based on a report, it was raining heavily at the time of the crash. The victim was pushing a shopping cart in the middle of the road when a GMC Yukon hit her.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said the SUV driver and other motorists stopped to provide aid to the woman. However, the woman died to her injuries. Investigators are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the victim.
Deputies say the driver was cooperative and there were no signs of drugs or alcohol on him. At this time, no other information is available. However, police continue to investigate the case.
