Woman Hit, Killed by Driver Along Mountain City Highway Near 80 Freeway [Elko, NV]
Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Driver in Elko on Mountain City Highway
ELKO, NV (September 11, 2020) — A woman died Friday after being struck by a pickup truck at a gas station along Mountain City Highway near the 80 Freeway.
According to reports, Elko Police Department officers arrived at the scene around 5:10 p.m. There, they learned that a Jeep Gladiator stuck a 65-year-old female pedestrian. As a result, she sustained serious injuries.
Soon after, paramedics ushered the woman to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital where she died, despite having received medical attention.
Per a release from Elko police, it appears traffic around the gas pumps and poor visibility caused by the sunset might have led to the accident.
At this time, it is unknown if police issued a citation to the 27-year-old Spring Creek woman operating the Jeep.
