2 Dead in Head-On Crash on Highway 41 Near East Elkhorn Avenue [Fresno County, CA]
Drivers Killed in Fresno County Head-On Crash on Highway 41
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (September 17, 2020) — Two people died Wednesday morning following a fiery head-on crash on Highway 41 near East Elkhorn Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 6:00 a.m. crash took place just south of Carruthers.
Investigators determined that a Nissan driver, heading northbound on the highway, steered into the southbound lanes to pass several slower vehicles ahead.
Subsequently, a southbound SUV moved out of the way to avoid the oncoming Nissan. However, it slammed into a Hyundai vehicle traveling behind the SUV.
Due to the impact, the Nissan ruptured into flames and the unidentified driver perished at the scene. Unfortunately, the male driver in the Hyundai also died.
As for the man operating the SUV and his four passengers, all escaped harm, say reports.
No other information surrounding this fatal crash was available. However, authorities plan to examine this case more closely.
