Woman Killed in Car Accident Near Highway 78 and College Boulevard [Oceanside, CA]
Driver Dies in Oceanside Car Accident on Highway 78
OCEANSIDE, CA (September 14, 2020) — A 70-year-old woman died Saturday afternoon following a car accident near Highway 78 and College Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an Oceanside woman driving a 2014 Honda Accord tried entering the westbound on-ramp to Highway 78.
However, for unknown reasons, her vehicle left the freeway on-ramp and traveled through some landscape nearby before hitting the freeway’s bridge abutment.
Subsequently, the Honda continued over the concrete structure and crashed on top of a northbound 2019 Tesla.
Fortunately, the 62-year-old Tesla driver and his passenger—both residents of Carlsbad—escaped harm.
However, the 70-year-old woman in the Honda died shortly thereafter.
At this time, detectives plan to look at this crash at all angles to determine the ultimate cause.
With deepest sympathies, our firm would like to express its thoughts of hope and strength to the friends and family of the victim.
