One Killed, Two Critical in Head-On Crash on Highway 4 [Brentwood, CA]
Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 4 near Balfour Road in Brentwood
BRENTWOOD, CA (September 7, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person got killed in a head-on crash on eastbound Highway 4 on late Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just east of Balfour Road at approximately 4:56 PM.
Based on a report, a grey 2008 Nissan Ultima was traveling on the highway when it went across the solid double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, it collided head-on into a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe.
As a result, crews from the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District pronounced the driver and sole occupant of the Nissan deceased at the scene. Officials only identified the victim as a 21-year-old from Antioch. Medics transported the adult male driver and adult female passenger of the Hyundai by helicopter to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek with major injuries.
At this point, police don’t have the details that lead to the crash. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
