Woman Paralyzed after Head-On Crash on Desert Tortoise Road near Bajada Loop in Morristown
MORRISTOWN, AZ (September 6, 2020) – Police identified Miguel Espin as the drunk driver who caused a head-on crash on Desert Tortoise Road on Sunday evening.
According to Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened near Bajada Loop around 6:45 PM.
Based on a report, Espin had a woman and three children as passengers in his Hummer H3 when it collided with a Toyota minivan. Subsequently, Espin fled the scene of the crash on foot.
As a result, medics said the woman who was in the Hummer had non-life-threatening injuries but is now paralyzed. The three children also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. In addition, both occupants in the minivan also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police later found Espin about a quarter-mile away. Finally, they booked him into jail on charges of aggravated assault, endangerment, leaving the scene of a crash, and aggravated DUI.
