Man Fatally Struck by Driver in Albuquerque Pedestrian Accident at Central Avenue

 
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 3, 2020) — One person died Wednesday morning following a pedestrian accident at Central Avenue Southeast and Garcia Street Southeast.
 
According to police, the fatal incident occurred around 4:50 a.m.
 
The Albuquerque Police Department responded as soon as they learned the news. Upon arriving, they initially had classified the incident as a hit-and-run until the driver returned to the scene.
 
According to the investigation, the eastbound driver struck the pedestrian as he left the south sidewalk and began crossing northbound on Central Avenue Southeast.
 
The driver reportedly left the scene thinking she had struck a cone; however, she returned moments later and determined otherwise.
 
At this time, the Office of Medical Investigator is ascertaining the fatal victim’s identity.
