Three Airlifted after Water Truck Crash on 15 Freeway [Victorville, CA]
Water Truck Overturned in Crash on 15 Freeway at D Street in Victorville
VICTORVILLE, CA (August 26, 2020) – Emergency responders requested three people to be airlifted after a crash involving a water truck on northbound 15 Freeway on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at the D Street off-ramp around 12:43 PM.
Based on a report, the water truck was exiting from the freeway when it slammed into a sedan. Subsequently, it crashed over a concrete barricade before it overturned and landed on the train tracks as a train was approaching.
Fortunately, the conductor of the BNSF train was able to stop just in time and avoided crashing into the truck with the driver still trapped inside.
Firefighters from Victorville City Fire and Apple Valley Fire extricated the driver from the truck. Helicopters sent the victim and two occupants of the sedan to hospitals for treatment.
Police are trying to determine the cause of the crash. However, they don’t have additional information at this time.
