Street Racing Leads to Fatal Accident on NE Minnehaha Street near NE 47th Avenue in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, WA (August 19, 2020) – Police identified Mark Holm as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash on Minnehaha Street on Wednesday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened near 47th Avenue.
Based on a report, a Ford work van in the left westbound lane of Minnehaha Street was racing a purple Lexus sedan in the right lane. The Lexus turned right but the van continued straight into the intersection. As a result, Holm struck it as it made a sweeping counterclockwise 270-degree turn.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said that 59-year-old Holm of Vancouver died at the scene.
Authorities arrested the driver of the van, 26-year-old Carlos J. Hoyos-Gonzalez. Deputies said he showed obvious signs of impairment. Finally, officers booked him into the Clark County Jail for vehicular homicide.
