Tristin Zurita Arrested after DUI Accident on Highway 99 [Visalia, CA]
Police Officer Injured in DUI Crash on Highway 99 near Betty Drive in Visalia
VISALIA, CA (August 22, 2020) – Police arrested Tristin Zurita after a DUI accident on Highway 99 on early Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Betty Drive at approximately 2:20 AM.
Based on a report, 26-year-old Zurita of Tulare drove on Highway 99 when her vehicle swerved in the lanes. Consequently, it struck a CHP patrol car that pulled behind an abandoned vehicle.
As a result, the driver of the patrol car suffered moderate injuries. In addition, Zurita suffered minor to moderate injuries. Medics sent both victims to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment. The other officer went outside of the patrol car and did not sustain injuries in the incident.
The CHP believed that Zurita was intoxicated at the time of the collision. As a result, police arrested her on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs causing injury, DUI with .20% blood alcohol content causing injury and obstructing an officer.
