Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Union Avenue Near East 7th Street [Bakersfield, CA]
Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 3, 2020) — A driver struck and killed a woman early Thursday in a pedestrian accident on Union Avenue near East 7th Street.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, crews responded to the 12:50 a.m. crash in the 700 block of Union Avenue to investigate.
CHP officers determined that the victim was trying to cross the road outside of a marked crosswalk when an oncoming vehicle struck her.
Unfortunately, the victim died at the scene and her identity has yet to be released. Meanwhile, the driver stayed back and waited for the authorities to arrive.
During the investigation, officers determined that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the accident; however, the investigation remains as detectives explore other factors that could have led to this crash.
