2 Drivers Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on 210 Freeway [La Crescenta, CA]

Fatal Wrong-Way Accident Reported in La Crescenta

 
LA CRESCENTA, CA (August 4, 2020) — A wrong-way accident on 210 Freeway near Ocean View Boulevard left two drivers dead and one passenger injured Monday.
 
The incident happened on the eastbound side of the freeway in the La Crescenta-Montrose area.
 
According to a California Highway Patrol traffic incident log, someone reported a wrong-way driver around 2:41 a.m. heading westbound in the eastbound lanes.
 
Three minutes later, CHP received a report about a fatal head-on collision.
 
Officials confirmed soon after that the accident involved the wrong-way driver who had been reported prior to the collision.
 
Reports say that one of the cars caught on fire, which prompted officials to close all eastbound lanes near Ocean View Boulevard.
 
Unfortunately, both drivers died in the accident. The wrong-way driver, who’d been driving a Mazda, was a woman in her mid-20s. News reports described the other driver as a 27-year-old man, whose family learned about the news after having tracked his cellphone to the scene.
 
Meanwhile, a passenger in the wrong-way Mazda sustained moderate injuries.
 
At this time, information related to what led to the crash and whether speed or impairment played a part has yet to be confirmed.
