Driver Strikes, Kills Woman in Livingston Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
LIVINGSTON, CA (August 6, 2020) — A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Sultana Drive Wednesday morning.
According to officials, the incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m.
Investigators determined that a woman and a man occupying a car were heading southbound on Highway 99. For unknown reasons, the vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and the woman exited the car and walked across the highway.
However, as she crossed the northbound lanes between Sultana Drive and Westside Boulevard, an oncoming Toyota struck her.
The unidentified woman sustained fatal injuries in the accident and the Toyota driver stayed at the scene and waited for authorities to arrive.
Investigators determined that a witness removed her body from the highway lanes to avoid further cars from hitting her.
At this time, details remain unclear as to what led to the accident and where the fault lies.
