Raymond Koladycz, Jill Powell Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 20 Near Milepost 50-8
SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (August 8, 2020) — Two people died following Wednesday’s wrong-way accident on Highway 20 near milepost 50-8.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a silver 2015 Toyota Highlander, driven by 76-year old Raymond S. Koladycz of Oak Harbor, was heading west in the eastbound lanes.
While traveling in the wrong direction over a bridge across the Swinomish Slough, his vehicle struck a 2000 Toyota 4Runner head-on.
Due to the impact, the 4Runner was left partially hanging off the guardrail of the bridge.
Upon arriving, authorities declared its driver—62-year old Jill L. Powell of Mount Vernon—deceased at the scene. Koladycz also suffered fatal injuries, despite life-saving efforts by witnesses and First Responders.
At this time, troopers have not confirmed whether alcohol or drugs had played a role in the accident. Yet anyone with information on this crash should call detectives.
Our thoughts and sincere sympathies are with the families and friends of Raymond Koladycz and Jill Powell.
