Child Critical after Car Crash Involving Police Officer on 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (August 3, 2020) – A family of five suffered injuries in a T-bone crash on 19th Avenue on early Monday morning.
According to Phoenix Police, the incident happened near Buckeye Road around 8:00 AM.
Based on a report, a couple was with their three children in the car when it tried to make a U-turn from the right-hand lane. Consequently, a police officer traveling on the same way T-boned the car. As a result, both vehicles ended up in the eastbound lanes.
Emergency crews did not find car seats in the family’s vehicle. In addition, they said that the children had no restraints. As a result, a 3-year-old child was listed in a critical condition and a 4-year-old child suffered life-threatening injuries. The mother sustained non-serious injures while the father had a broken hip. The third child in the car, a 6-year-old kid, is now recovering. The police officer is also recovering.
Police are currently investigating the crash. At this time, they don’t have additional information.
