Marco Gonzalez and Albert Blanco Arrested in Stolen Car Crash on Highway 17 [Santa Cruz, CA]
One Hospitalized, Two Arrested After Stolen Car Crash in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, CA (July 30, 2020) – Police arrested Marco Gonzalez and Albert Blanco after a stolen car crash on Highway 17 on early Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Vine Hill Road at approximately 5:00 AM.
Based on a report, Gonzalez unsafely and illegally made a U-turn at Vine Hill. Consequently, he hit a Hyundai car. Afterward, Gonzales and Blanco, a passenger in the car, ran off into the woods.
Emergency crews arrive at the scene and sent a 30-year-old Boulder Creek woman in the Infinity to the hospital with minor injuries. The 49-year-old man from Watsonville driving the Hyundai was not hurt.
Finally, a resident contacted CHP after spotting the two men. Police later arrested Marco Ochoa Gonzalez, 25, of Manteca on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen car, hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. In addition, they also arrested Albert J. Blanco, 38, of San Jose on suspicion of possessing a stolen car and resisting arrest.
At this point, the crash remains under investigation.
