Jose Malagon Arrested after DUI Pedestrian Crash That Killed Child [Lamont, CA]

Jose Malagon Taken Into Custody Following Deadly Pedestrian Accident Near Sunset Boulevard and South Edison Road

 
LAMONT, CA (August 4, 2020) — A 2-year-old boy died after being run over by an alleged DUI driver Saturday near Sunset Boulevard and South Edison Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a man entered his SUV to check on his livestock near Sunset Boulevard and South Edison Road.
 
However, as he tried pulling forward, CHP officers said he ran over a 2-year-old boy who suffered major head injuries.
 
Paramedics responded shortly after. They transported the child to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Following an investigation, police arrested 31-year-old Jose Arvizu Malagon, who they say had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
 
Since details remain limited, an investigation remains.
