Katherine MacMahon Killed in Highway 29 Pedestrian Crash [Napa, CA]
Katherine MacMahon Fatally Struck by Cars on Highway 29 Near Wine Country Avenue
NAPA, CA (August 3, 2020) – A 29-year-old woman died in Friday’s pedestrian accident on Highway 29 at Wine Country Avenue.
According to Napa Police Department Sgt. Kris Jenny, the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. during dark hours of the morning.
Investigators believe Katherine Elizabeth MacMahon had been in the roadway when multiple vehicles struck her; however, police are unsure of the precise conditions that unfolded and whether she had used a marked crosswalk at the time.
Following the crash, two drivers and a witness stayed at the scene and waited for authorities. Per a witness, several other drivers who may have not been aware struck the pedestrian and left the scene.
According to an investigation, neither speed nor impairment played a factor; however, an investigation remains as detectives look into other factors that could explain what took place.
Due to the incident, the road was closed for more than five hours as the Napa Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.
