Allan Shaffer Struck and Killed by Train at AmTrak Station near Historic Route 66 [Flagstaff, AZ]
Fatal, Pedestrian Accident near Humphreys Street and Historic Route 66 in Flagstaff
FLAGSTAFF, AZ (July 19, 2020) – Police identified Allan Shaffer as the victim who was struck and killed by a train at the AmTrak Station near Historic Route 66 on Sunday afternoon.
According to the police, the collision happened near Humphreys Street just before 3:00 PM.
Based on a report, the pedestrian was walking southbound across the railroad tracks while waving at an oncoming train going westbound prior to the accident. At that time, he traveled back north to the middle of the tracks and tried to run away from the train. However, the train struck him.
As a result, first responders said the victim died of his injuries. They identified him as a 24-year-old Flagstaff resident.
Investigators are still reviewing surveillance camera recordings in the area. At this point, police don’t have additional information related to the accident.
