Hit-and-Run Driver Fatally Strikes Pedestrian in Cathedral City
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (July 18, 2020) – Authorities confirmed that a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run on Ramon Road on Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Whispering Palms Trail at approximately 8:20 PM.
Based on a report, Cathedral City police officers found the victim down in the road. An initial assessment showed a vehicle had struck the pedestrian. However, the suspect left the scene before first responders arrived at the scene.
Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. Officials did not release his name pending kin notification.
The police report didn’t specify if the victim was using the crosswalk at the time of the accident. At this time, officials are still gathering data related to the case.
