19-Year-Old Woman, Man Injured in DUI Crash on Highway 82 [Ellensburg, WA]
DUI Driver Involved in DUI Crash on Highway 82 in Kittitas County
ELLENSBURG, WA (July 19, 2020) – A 19-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man suffered injuries in a DUI crash on Highway 82 eastbound on early Sunday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened about eight miles south of Ellensburg in Kittitas County around 5:45 PM.
Based on a report, the 19-year-old female driver of a blue Honda Civic drifted onto the shoulder and overcorrected. Consequently, the vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof. Responders found it about 100 feet off the roadway.
Troopers and medics responded to the scene and rescued the woman and her passenger, a 22-year-old Renton man. Both victims sustained injuries. Crews took them to Yakima Virginia Mason Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The female driver is facing a vehicular assault charge for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. At this time, the case is still under investigation.
