Woman Hit, Killed by Driver in Grass Valley Pedestrian Crash at Highway 49
GRASS VALLEY, CA (July 20, 2020) — A woman died in a pedestrian accident Friday afternoon at Highway 49 and South Auburn Street.
According to the Grass Valley Fire Department, the incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m.
Authorities say that a 51-year-old man from North Highlands lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle subsequently went off Highway 49 and struck the 39-year-old female pedestrian, who reports say, was walking on the sidewalk.
The man’s vehicle then crashed into Grass Valley Charter School.
According to officials at the scene, the woman died shortly thereafter.
Firefighters had to use extrication tools to free the driver from his car. It appears he had suffered broken bones in the accident, prompting paramedics to bring him to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
At this time, investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident. In addition, speed does not seem to have had played a role in the crash, as well.
However, if any witnesses would like to help investigators determine the liabilities of the crash, please call investigators.
Our law offices would like to send its condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
