19-Year-Old Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 [Salinas, CA]
Four Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on Highway 101 at Esperanza Road in Salinas
SALINAS, CA (July 13, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 19-year-old woman got killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 northbound on Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Esperanza Road around 5:00 AM.
Based on a report, a Nissan sedan and two other vehicles stopped due to traffic control ahead of them. At that time, a pick-up truck that was traveling at an unsafe speed slammed into the back of one of the cars. The impact pushed the car to hit the other two vehicles.
A female occupant in the Nissan died at the scene. Crews did not release her name pending kin notification. Two other occupants suffered major injuries. In addition, the driver of the pickup sustained moderate injuries, while another driver suffered minor injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash. However, the collision is under investigation.
