Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Oak Street [Bakersfield, CA]
Semi-Truck Involved in Fatal Bicycle Crash on Oak Street in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, WA (July 7, 2020) – Police confirmed that a bicyclist died in a hit-and-run in the 300 block of Oak Street on early Tuesday morning.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the collision happened at approximately 5:15 AM.
Based on a report, the man was towing a shopping cart on his bicycle when a 2000-06 GMC Yukon XL SUV hit him. In addition, the SUV left the scene after the collision.
Paramedics said the bicyclist sustained major injuries. Crews pronounced him dead at the scene. They did not release his name pending notification of next of kin.
As of this time, police don’t have additional details related to the crash. However, they ask anyone with information on the vehicle’s location to call BPD at 661-327-7111.
