Jimmie Cheek and Darrell Cheek Die in Head-On Accident on Mineral King Avenue [Visalia, CA]

2 Killed, 1 Injured in Major Head-On Crash on Mineral King Avenue near Crumal Street in Visalia

 
VISALIA, CA (July 6, 2020) – Police identified Jimmie Cheek, 72, and Darrell Cheek, 77, as the victims who died in a head-on crash on Mineral King Avenue on Monday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Crumal Street around 7:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a Dodge truck left westbound Highway 198 through a chain-link fence and continued driving westbound on Mineral King while in the eastbound lane. As a result, it collided head-on into a Nissan Rogue.
 
Nissan occupants 72-year-old Jimmie Sue Cheek and 77-year-old Darrell Cheek died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, Kevin Terry, 30, suffered major injuries. Crews took him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.
 
It’s still unknown if alcohol was involved in the crash. However, the Visalia Police Department is already investigating this deadly incident.
