Fatal Two-Car Collision in Discovery Bay
DISCOVERY BAY, CA (July 3, 2020) — On Thursday afternoon, a driver died in a head-on accident on Highway 4 near Discovery Bay Boulevard.
According to a California Highway Patrol incident log, the crash happened around 12:28 p.m. and involved a Jeep SUV and a 2006 Pontiac sedan.
Witnesses say that the solo male driver in the Pontiac traveled at excessive speeds along the westbound shoulder of Highway 4. In addition, they testify to seeing the Pontiac travel at speeds of about 100 mph.
Subsequently, the Pontiac lost control and traveled across the westbound lanes. After that, it crossed into the eastbound side and colliding head-on with the Jeep.
Unfortunately, the Pontiac driver died in the accident. However, the Jeep driver suffered only minor injuries.
At this time, detectives have yet to confirm whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the accident.
