17-Year-Old Driver Involved in Deadly Wrong-Way Crash on Monte Vista Avenue in Montclair
MONTCLAIR, CA (July 5, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 14-year-old girl died and five other people suffered injuries in a wrong-way crash on Monte Vista Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 5:40 AM.
Based on a report, a 17-year-old driver veered an SUV off into the northbound lanes from the southbound lanes. As a result, the SUV then collided with a sedan.
The SUV’s 14-year-old passenger died at the scene. Police did not release her name pending notification of next of kin. The 51-year-old woman driving the sedan sustained minor injuries. In addition, four other people in the car suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics sent all victims to an area hospital for further aid.
The teen driver of the SUV left the scene. An investigation into the accident is underway. In addition, the Police asked anyone with information regarding this incident to call 909-621-4771.
