One Killed, One Injured in DUI Accident on Skyline Boulevard [Redwood City, CA]
Car Overturned in Deadly Single-Vehicle Crash near the Thomas Fogarty Winery in Redwood City
REDWOOD CITY, CA (July 3, 2020) – One person died and one became critical in a DUI accident on Skyline Boulevard on Friday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Thomas Fogarty Winery at Rapley Ranch Road around 7:30 PM.
A report showed that a white BMW 540i was headed southbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the car went off the right side of the road before it hit a tree. In addition, it then rolled back on to the roadway in the southbound lane.
Emergency crews pronounced the car’s passenger, a 27-year-old man, dead at the scene. They took the 27-year-old driver to Stanford Medical Center in critical condition.
Crews closed both lanes of the road for four hours while rescue and clearing operations took place in the area.
The CHP said alcohol and drugs played a role in the crash. However, they continue to investigate the case.
