Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 2, 2020) — A hit-and-run driver fatally struck a man Tuesday night in a pedestrian accident on 45th Street and Logan Avenue.
According to San Diego Police Officer John Buttle, the crash happened around 8:25 p.m. when an 81-year-old man was reportedly crossing Logan Avenue, northbound inside a marked crosswalk.
Authorities determined that as a vehicle made a turn onto eastbound Logan Avenue from southbound South 45th Street, it had struck the 81-year-old.
The driver fled the area soon after and purportedly continued eastbound on Logan Avenue.
Unfortunately, detectives have no information surrounding the make and model of the car or a description of its driver.
In regard to the victim’s injuries, he had suffered a skull fracture and was taken to a local hospital where he died at 12:17 a.m. His identity will be withheld due to the pending notification of family members.
We would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
