Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Car During Police Chase Near Avenue S and Sierra Highway [Palmdale, CA]
Female Pedestrian Dies Following Police Chase in Palmdale on Avenue S and Sierra Highway
PALMDALE, CA (June 26, 2020) — A pedestrian died Wednesday evening following a police chase crash near East Avenue S and Sierra Highway.
According to authorities, the pedestrian, described as a female walking her dog, was hit by a car fleeing from deputies around 8:00 p.m.
The vehicle with six teenagers on board was purportedly speeding and running red traffic lights during the chase before its driver lost control. The vehicle subsequently jumped a curb on East Avenue S and veered onto the sidewalk that separates the four-lane road from the bike path. There, the vehicle struck the woman walking her dog before it continued up a grassy berm, striking a brick wall.
Unfortunately, the woman who remains unidentified died at the scene and her dog fled the area.
The six teenagers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries, but reports did not indicate the consequences in which they will face.
To the friends and family of the victim, we hope you find comfort, courage and strength in those around you. Our thoughts of sympathies are with you during this time.
