Deputy Caleb Collin Injured, David Buhrmann Charged With DUI in Turlock Accident
TURLOCK, CA (June 26, 2020) — A motorcycle deputy has been hospitalized after Thursday’s crash with a DUI driver at West Main Street and South Tully Road left him injured.
According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded around 7:00 a.m.
California Highway Patrol officers said the Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputy was heading westbound on West Main Street when an eastbound Ford truck made a left-hand turn onto South Tully Road.
As a result, Davis Arthur Rolland Buhrmann‘s Ford collided with Deputy Caleb Collin‘s motorcycle at the intersection.
Collins, who authorities say had been wearing a department-issued helmet, flew off his motorcycle and landed in the roadway. Paramedics responded shortly thereafter and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, Buhrmann, 33, of Turlock, was unharmed in the crash yet charged with three separate felony DUI charges. From there, police booked him into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
As for Collins — a five-year veteran of the department — and his injuries, reports noted that he remains in stable condition.
Driving while impaired poses great harm to not just you, but other travelers. Never operate a car when under the influence. If you’re impaired, have a friend or family member bring you home safely instead. By doing this, you can keep out of harm’s way.
