CHP Officer Seriously Injured in Multi-Car Crash on 10 Freeway [Alhambra, CA]
Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash near New Avenue in Alhambra
ALHAMBRA, CA (June 21, 2020) – A CHP officer suffered serious injuries in a multi-car crash on 10 Freeway westbound on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near New Avenue around 1:25 PM.
A report showed that the 30-year-old officer parked his CHP SUV after pulling over a BMW on the shoulder before the accident. Acting to avoid a collision with a Scion that cut in front of it, a RAV4 veered to the shoulder and rear-ended the CHP vehicle.
As a result, the impact pushed the SUV into the BMW. It wasn’t clear if it was the BMW or the CHP SUV that hit the officer. The Scion left the scene after the incident.
Paramedics took the officer to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. The driver of the RAV4, a 32-year-old Monterey Park woman, and the driver of the BMW were not injured.
The CHP is still looking for the driver of the Scion. In addition, officers continue to investigate the case.
