5 Injured in Car Accident on 80 Freeway Near Air Base Parkway [Fairfield, CA]
Street Racing Possible Factor in Major-Injury Fairfield Collision
FAIRFIELD, CA (June 22, 2020) — Paramedics brought five people to a trauma center following Saturday’s multi-car accident on 80 Freeway near Air Base Parkway.
The crash took place around 11:30 a.m. when, according to witnesses, at least one four-door sedan was racing in traffic.
One car traveled onto the shoulder after striking a pickup truck that was towing a trailer. The impact ejected a person from that vehicle just before witnesses tried tending to another occupant trapped inside that same car.
Authorities arrived to find five people seeking medical attention, one of whom sustained major injuries.
Paramedics wasted no time in transporting all five patients to a local trauma center for treatment. It is unclear what precisely drove the crash, but detectives are looking into whether street racing played a role.
