Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Phelan
PHELAN, CA (June 18, 2020) — A driver fatally struck a woman Wednesday morning in a pedestrian accident on Highway 138 near Mantova Drive.
According to reports, the incident happened around 3:46 a.m. before First Responders arrived at the scene to render CPR to the seriously injured woman.
California Highway Patrol officers learned that a 20-year-old driver from Phelan was driving a black 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, heading eastbound on the highway. Traveling at speeds of about 60 mph, the Hyundai car subsequently slammed into a female pedestrian running within the No. 1 lane.
The crash summoned San Bernardino County firefighters to the scene, where they pronounced the pedestrian dead moments later. Although her identity has not been released, officials described her as a 25-year-old woman from Hemet.
The accident remains under investigation and authorities urge witnesses with news to share to call Officer M. Carrillo at the San Bernardino CHP Office at (909) 383-4247.
